Managing Partner and Principal Analyst David Dunphy has 20 years of experience in telecommunications and IT spanning service providers, professional services, and large enteprise employers as well as major analyst and consulting organizations.
Dave has worked directly for Fortune 50 enterprises NCR and Ashland Oil (Ashland Services Company, the telecom and IT group)/Valvoline, AT&T Global Information Solutions, WinStar Communications and his past start up consultancy Technology Marketing Resources, where he focused on helping service operators with marketing strategy, new service development, network costing, negotiating supply relationships, and marketing communcations.
His experience has ranged from Director and Senior Director level roles building and running Product Marketing and Management groups to managing service development teams, to Senior Product Manager and Market Research roles. He has been principal author on large bid proposals to Bell Atlantic, Sprint, MCI, developed strategic partnerships including between AT&T and CACI, evaluated potential acquisitions, documenting best practices, negotiating favorable supply contracts with suppliers such as Cisco and 3COM, proposed new lines of business and developed a solution prototype and first customer delivery that resulted in a new division, and has strong experience creating and delivering the value proposition, positioning, messaging, and presentations used to score wins in major service operator accounts.
Dave's international experience includes product management, service management, and product marketing in North America, CALA, and EMEA, having been involved in the EMEA region for the past 16 years, spending over 2 years in region.
Earlier in his career Dave contributed to the analysis of hardware and systems, project managed the selection, installation and maintennce of voice, data, telecom services IT infrastructure and building cabling, and developed in house operations support software that a systems vendor offered to buy.
He also formerly ran the Optical analysis at Current Analysis, significantly ramping their optical coverage and revenues, developing their first Ethernet switch/router and Core Router coverage, and was later a Research Director and subsequently VP of Infrastructure Analysis at Ovum prior to founding Telecom Strategy Partners.
Dave earned his MBA at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business, and has a Bachelor's of Science in Telecommunications Systems Management from Ohio University.
