David Dunphy is a Principal Analyst and Managing
Partner at Telecom Strategy Partners, based in Chapel
Hill, North Carolina. He is the primary point of contact for
mobile backhaul, wireless data, wireless broadband
access services and optical networks, and contributes to
our Competitor Analysis.
Dave has 20 years of experience in telecom - 14 of them
in product marketing and product management roles in
operators, vendors, professional services firms, and
large enterprise. He has a strong focus on competitive
analysis, product strategy, and positioning of products
and services, experience in microwave, wireless
broadband access, Ethernet, optical.. .
Dave has held Director roles in Product Management
and Product Marketing in service operators WinStar,
started and ran Telecom Marketing Resources, a
product strategy and management consultancy
serving Tier 2/3 operators in the U.S., was
a Senior Product Manager in professional services for
AT&T GIS, was a contract project manager for Nortel,
and worked in the operations of a 48-state network for
large Enterprise Ashland Oil, as well as consulting for
over a dozen operators and vendors. .
His practical experience prior to his analysis and
consulting roles included work on LAN/WAN integration
and simulation modeling professional services, Frame
Relay and ATM product strategy and management,
Internet access services, and microwave backhaul and
wireless broadband access. .
In these roles, Dave has developed market research,
performed network costing, written business cases,
proposed and project managed development of new
services, performed competitive hardware analysis,
consulted on project strategy, taken the lead role in
writing and responded to carrier RFIs/RFPs, proposed
and negotiated strategic partnerships, performed M&A
analysis, written presentations for investors, carriers,
industry analysts and Wall Street, negotiated hardware
contracts and carrier's carrier resale agreements, and
participated in customer facing roles in support of sales
at large Enterprise and Tier 1 service operator accounts
- and has managed products or services in North
America, EMEA, and CALA. .
Dave created Current Analysis' first Ethernet
switch/router coverage, covered core routing and
multiservice switching there, and later ran Current
Analysis' Optical Infrastructure module for several years
as its Principal Analyst. He was also Vice President of
Analysis for Network Infrastructure and a Senior
Manager at Ovum, focused on the EMEA markets. .
Dave holds a Bachelor's of Science in Telecom Systems
Management from Ohio University with concentrations in
Engineering and Computer Science, and earned an MBA
at Duke's Fuqua School of Business. |

Lorenza Brescia is Principal Analyst
and Senior Partner at Telecom Strategy Partners,
based in Paris, France. She is the primary point of
contact for Converged Transport , Wireless core
networks, Mobile TV and Ethernet Services, and
contributes to our Competitor Analysis.
Lorenza has 12 years of experience in telecom, in
market strategy, product marketing, and research &
development. Most recently, Lorenza was Director of
Corporate Strategy at Alcatel-Lucent, where where she
was responsible for analysis of the
Telecommunications and Media Markets, focusing on
Optics, IP, and Access in th the Wireline and Wireless
domains. In this role, she assessed current market
activity, products, and industry competition to construct
a sound assessment of industry trends.
Lorenza has strong expertise in Ethernet services and
Vertical Markets, and on profiling the technical and
economic issues and requirements of the different
vertical sectors. Her background includes
determining consumer and enterprise expectations
for home/office based multi-play services, and on the
increased levels of integration for bundled
wireline/wireles service offerings and capabilities.
Previous roles Lorenza held at Alcatel include work as
a Senior Product Manager focused on next-generation
Optics, IP and Access products, and both wireline and
wireless services. Lorenza has also played an active
role in customer facing activities including market
research, product strategy, business case analysis,
product management, writing and responding to
RFIs/RFPs, and negotiating product and service
contracts in North America, EMEA and CALA.
Lorenza began her career at Alcatel as a a
development engineer working on one of the first and
most frequently deployed Metro WDM systems on the
market. She has managed hardware selection,
implementation, and the integration of systems,
performed cost analysis for carriers considering new
network investment, and developed simulation
modeling services predicting network performance.
Lorenza holds a Masters Degree in Optoelectronic
Engineering from the Polytechnic of Milan, Italy.
